Treasurer Jim Chalmers has slammed Opposition leader Peter Dutton as a “risky proposition” for Australia because he is “divisive”. Opposition leader Peter Dutton says he will not quit the Paris Accord or give up on net zero. It is understood Mr Dutton's recent dismissal of the 2030 climate target was due to the goal being unachievable. “Once again, Peter Dutton is showing what a risky proposition he is, especially when it comes to the economy,” Mr Chalmers told Sky News Australia. “He’s divisive, his party’s divided, and he never provides any detail, and if he rips up these emissions reduction targets, our economy will be weaker as a consequence.”
